Steller's Eider (Drake)

This relatively small sea duck is the smallest in the Eider family at just 18" long. The male has a number of distinguishing characteristics: a thick black eye ring; greenish-black tufts of feathers on the forehead and back of head; black chin, throat, neck and rump; dark bluish-purplish feathered wings with white edging which appear like stripes across the back when folded. Breeds in eastern Siberia & Alaska. (Wikipedia)
